Dr. Robert D Hall gained a PhD in plant biotechnology and enzymology (Edinburgh, 1984) and has subsequently completed 25 years research experience, including 15 years project / group management experience. He moved to The Netherlands in 1987 where he currently works at Plant Research International as Deputy Business Unit Manager Bioscience and Cluster Leader Metabolic Regulation (www.pri.wur.nl/uk/). He is also Deputy Director of the Netherlands Centre of Biosystems Genomics (www.cbsg.nl) and is also on the Board of Management of the Netherlands Metabolomics Centre (www.metabolomicscentre.nl). His primary research activities are now centred on functional genomics and developing metabolomics technologies for application in plants for both science and industry (www.metabolomics.nl). He is Coordinator of the EU project META-PHOR which started in October, 2006 and which is focused on developing novel metabolomics technologies and bioinformatics strategies for plants (www.meta-phor.eu). He is on the Editorial Boards of J Plant Physiology, Molecular Biotechnology and is Associate Editor of the journal Metabolomics. He has completed 100 publications of which 75% are in peer-reviewed journals and is currently editing 2 books on Plant metabolomics.
